Hello! I'm Harmony

About Me

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor supporting children, individuals, and families in Oak Bay and the Westshore.

I knew from an early age that I was meant to end up in this field. Much of my pull towards this profession stemmed from a wonderful first experience in counselling when I began attending as a young teen. Prior to joining VICYFCS, I have spent time in an array of different settings: working with children, community outreach work, and working with youth experiencing mental health and addictions. Volunteer work also sparks immense joy within me, and I have been volunteering as a coach for Special Olympics since 2017. The connections we build with one another have always fuelled my soul, which evidently led me to pursue my Master of Counselling degree.

Before attending graduate school, I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology. Much of my focus and interest during my undergrad studies was around working with marginalized youth within society who have been affected by the criminal justice system. This interest and education have provided me with a deeper, more holistic understanding of the nuances of each person’s uniquely constructed experience within our shared world.

I feel passionate about working with children, utilizing practices that align with their developmental needs, and supporting them and their families through the journey of learning, healing, and growth. However, I work with all ages, I have a deeply held belief that prioritizing our mental health can begin at any stage in life.

In my time outside of VICYFCS, you’ll find me outside enjoying a run while listening to a podcast, catching up with friends and family over coffee and a baked good, reading a good book in the sun, or cuddling up with my two adorable cats.

My Philosophy

I believe that you are the expert of yourself, and my role is to walk alongside you as you navigate and uncover your path forward. Grounded in a queer, social justice, cultural, and trauma informed framework, I draw from a range of theories and modalities, including Person Centred Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, Attachment Theory, Feminist Theory, Multicultural Theory, and Solution Focused Therapy. I bring gentle curiosity to this integrative approach, working collaboratively with my clients to find what best suits you, while fostering an environment of empathy, safety, and empowerment where you may share the unique and intricate pieces of yourself. I also aim to bring a sense of lightness to my work, by creating an atmosphere where humour and joy can co-exist with hardships.
