Hello! I’m Favour
About Me
My journey into working with kids began in the most unexpected way—at just 10 years old, I started a babysitter’s club in my neighbourhood. I may have been a child myself, but that didn’t stop me from organizing a team, meeting a need in my community, and discovering my passion for supporting children and families. That early spark has grown into a fulfilling career as a Clinical Counsellor, where I’m dedicated to helping young children, preteens, and their families navigate life’s challenges and thrive.
I earned my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, specializing in Children and Youth, from Adler University in Vancouver, BC. I’m a trained and certified AutPlay Therapy Provider and an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP), equipping me to offer tailored, neurodiversity-affirming care. My professional experience spans a variety of roles and settings, including working as an educational assistant with the Vancouver School Board, supporting neurodiverse children in after-school programs, and providing in-home support to families with preschoolers.
I’m especially passionate about infant and early mental health and have completed a foundations course in this area. I also offer parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) to foster secure relationships and emotional development in toddlers.
My special areas of interest include supporting actors and families in the film industry, and I have training in on-set mental health coordination. I am deeply committed to supporting Black children, children of colour, and Black transracial adoptees by providing culturally sensitive, strengths-based care that honours their unique experiences and fosters resilience.
When we work together, you can expect a warm, inclusive, and client-centred approach. I draw on various evidence-based modalities, including Narrative Therapy, Child-Centred Play Therapy, Expressive Therapies, and trauma-informed practices. My goal is to create a nurturing space where children feel seen, heard, and empowered, and where families can grow, heal, and thrive.
Outside of my counselling practice, I bring creativity and curiosity to everything I do. With a background as an award-winning lead in film and TV, I have a deep love for storytelling and performing arts. I enjoy watching musicals, exploring Victoria’s beauty, and dreaming of the day I’ll have my own dog—stay tuned for updates on that!
Reaching out for support is a brave step, and I’m here to make the process as approachable and comfortable as possible. Together, we’ll create a space where your child’s unique strengths can shine, and your family feels supported every step of the way. Let’s connect and start this journey together!
My Philosophy
I believe in creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive space where children, youth, and families feel seen, heard, and valued. Every individual has unique strengths and the capacity for growth, and I strive to nurture those strengths in a way that empowers healing and connection.
I work from a client-centred perspective, meeting clients where they are and collaborating with them to achieve their goals. My approach integrates a variety of evidence-based practices, including:
- Narrative Therapy: Supporting clients in reframing their stories to discover empowerment and new perspectives.
- Child-Centred Play Therapy: Using play as a natural medium for children to express emotions, build resilience, and grow.
- AutPlay Therapy: Providing neurodiversity-affirming care for children and families, for autistic and neurodiverse individuals.
- Expressive Therapies: Harnessing creativity as a tool for processing, healing and well-being.
- Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT): Offering support for infant and early mental health by fostering secure, nurturing relationships between parents and toddlers.
As an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP), I bring specialized expertise to support children and families navigating the unique challenges and strengths associated with ADHD.
I am deeply committed to anti-racist, intersectional, and anti-oppressive approaches, ensuring my work is inclusive and culturally sensitive. My practice is trauma-informed and strengths-based, honouring the unique lived experiences of every child and family I work with.
At the heart of my philosophy is a dedication to collaboration, connection, and growth. By tailoring my approach to meet each family’s unique needs, I aim to help children build resilience, nurture meaningful relationships, and thrive in their own unique journeys.
