Hello! I’m Ava

About Me

I have always been passionate about psychology, particularly the developmental stages of childhood, which led me to a career as a counselor. For over a decade, I’ve worked with children and families who have experienced trauma, and it has deepened my understanding of the importance of empathy and cultural awareness in guiding clients toward strength and clarity.

As an approved clinical supervisor (ACS), I have had the privilege of guiding and mentoring students and the next generation of mental health professionals. I take this responsibility seriously, striving to be a mentor who fosters growth and skill development in future clinicians.

On a personal level, I too have faced the challenges of loss, grief, and anxiety. I understand the pain of a miscarriage, the pressure of postpartum depression, and the uncertainty that follows the loss of a loved one. As a mother and woman, I’ve also encountered discrimination and the everyday struggles many of us face. These personal experiences, combined with my professional expertise, have shaped my approach to helping others overcome their own challenges.

The most rewarding part of my job is sharing the tools and skills I’ve developed, both through my professional experience and personal growth, to help my clients navigate their unique journey. Over the years, I’ve developed a holistic, empathetic, and culturally sensitive approach to therapy, focusing on empowering individuals and families. My approach is built on the foundation of trauma-informed care and cognitive behavioral therapy.

I look forward to meeting you and supporting you as you navigate your journey toward healing and personal growth.

My Philosophy

My counseling philosophy for both children and adults is grounded in empathy, respect, and a deep understanding of each individual’s unique experiences. For children, I focus on creating a safe, supportive environment where they can express themselves freely, using age-appropriate techniques to help them navigate their emotions and develop healthy coping strategies. For adults, I believe in empowering individuals to recognize their strengths and work through challenges with a sense of agency and self-compassion. Whether working with children or adults, my approach is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and tailored to each person’s specific needs, fostering growth, healing, and resilience.
