About Me

My passion for working with children started at a very young age and has continued to guide my path into counselling. I have worked for several years with children in the capacity of a supported child development worker, a nanny to some wonderful families, a family support worker for some of our local Indigenous agencies, and a child protection social worker alongside Victoria’s urban Indigenous population.

In addition to a strong foundation in the child welfare and protection field, I also approach my practice from a culturally sensitive lens, with an acknowledgment of the effects of years of colonization and the impact on our Indigenous children.

I have had the opportunity to work alongside families of diverse backgrounds and abilities, many of whom are vulnerable and disenfranchised within society. This work has allowed me to strengthen my knowledge in the fields of intergenerational trauma, mental health, domestic violence, substance use, child abuse and neglect, poverty and housing instability. I am guided by narrative and family systems therapy with a client-centered approach, and an enthusiasm for the role of attachment theory. I incorporate a trauma-informed and response-based lens, with emphasis on an awareness for how trauma impacts the neurobiology of the developing brain of the child.

I am passionate about empowering those who are marginalized within our communities and helping to give voice to those who have been silenced. My experience has provided me with the skills for advocacy and to hold empathetic space for those in crisis or having difficult conversations.
